Our seafarers from m/v Sredna Gora rescue Mexican crew from a distressed supply vessel

On March 13 this year, while passing through the Gulf of Mexico, the crew of Navigation Maritime Bulgare’s m/v Sredna Gora carried out a rescue operation after receiving a distress signal. The alert was sent from the VHF radio of supply vessel LEIGH RIVER (IMO: 7628679), sailing under Mexican flag, at 9.00 a.m. local time. At first, the distressed vessel transmitted only a tug request since they could not move after a major engine failure, but when the engine compartment started filling with water, they requested crew rescue and transmitted a distress signal including with a flaming torch. The Bulgarian crew, commanded by Captain Deyan Pasatov, immediately prepared for action in the harsh weather conditions and within a few minutes, the 8-member crew of the Mexican vessel was rescued and was safely abroad m/v Sredna Gora. There were no people injured or needing medical assistance.
