of STV “KALIAKRA” – participation in “L’ Armada Rouen 2008”,France 5-14 July , “The Tall Ships’ Races 2008” -18 July – 23 August, “Lutte Sail Bremerhaven 2008” 27 – 31 August and “Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta 2008”-10 Sept. – 5 October

 

The sail training  vessel “Kaliakra” built in 1984 in the Gdansk shipyard, Poland. Length 52,0 m; Beam 8,0 m ; Draft 4,0 m  Displacement 392 tons, Sail area: Main sails 816 sq.m;  square sails 264 sq.m  ( total 1080 sq.m ). Homeport: Varna , Bulgaria,  Owners - Bulgarian  Maritime Training Centre; Operator – Navigation Maritime Bulgare. The vessel is very solidly built and  she is specially  designed as training vessel. “Kaliakra” is fitted out for worldwide sailing and has all the safety certificates required for these activities. A minimum of 13 experienced, professional crew make sure that the ship operates safely.

The Bulgarian barquentine has so far won some of the top awards. It is the pride and joy of Bulgarian sailing ships. During the Columbus Race regatta, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America, our ship crossed the Atlantic twice and qualified in the third place out of 43 tall ships. On the board visiting the Kaliakra, has been the King of Spain, the Norwegian heir to the throne and many other distinguished personalities.

Having in mind that our barquentine “Kaliakra” is one of the fastest and nice looking vessels “Class A” we expect a great number of visitors and trainees will be on board the vessel in all the ports of call.  

She is truly a beautiful ship to behold, with black hull and lovely figurehead .

Accommodation for trainees:– 5 x 2 beds, 1 x 6 beds, 1 x 9 beds cabins and 5 beds in 11 beds  dormitory.

Four meals a day, bedding and linen are included in the price.

The insurance is not included.

Vessel is scheduled to stay in each port three days and nights – EUR 60,00 per day & night

At least 50 percent of all trainees  must be aged 15 – 25 years
